2. How We Use Information

We may use personal information to:

  • Respond to inquiries and consultation requests

We may also send general tax information, reminders, newsletters, or firm updates when permitted by applicable law.

You may unsubscribe from promotional email communications at any time using the unsubscribe option contained in those communications.

3. Tax Return Information and Client Confidentiality

BridgeOne treats taxpayer and client information as confidential.

Federal law imposes restrictions on the disclosure and use of tax return information by tax return preparers. Except as permitted by applicable law or with any consent required by law, BridgeOne does not disclose or use tax return information for purposes unrelated to providing authorized tax preparation or related services.

Certain uses or disclosures of tax return information may require separate written taxpayer consent. When such consent is legally required, this Privacy Policy does not replace that consent.

BridgeOne does not sell client tax return information.

IRC §7216 generally prohibits a tax return preparer from knowingly or recklessly using or disclosing tax return information for unauthorized purposes, subject to specified exceptions and consent rules.

4. Information Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect confidential client and customer information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, misuse, or loss.

These measures may include access controls, authentication procedures, secure software and systems, encryption where appropriate, employee or contractor access restrictions, secure document-handling procedures, and oversight of service providers that handle protected information.

No electronic transmission, website, email system, or data-storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Tax preparation firms are specifically included among businesses potentially covered by the FTC Safeguards Rule, which requires covered firms to maintain an information security program appropriate to the nature and sensitivity of customer information.

5. How We Share Information

We may disclose information only as reasonably necessary to operate our business, provide requested professional services, comply with law, or protect legitimate interests.

This may include disclosures to:

  • Tax preparation and accounting software providers

  • Electronic filing providers

  • Secure document and client portal providers

  • Payment processors

  • Cloud hosting and technology providers

  • Email and communication providers

  • Professional advisers, insurers, or legal counsel when appropriate

  • The IRS, state revenue agencies, or other government authorities when authorized or legally permitted

  • Other service providers assisting BridgeOne in providing authorized client services

Where required, service providers are expected to maintain appropriate protections for customer information.

We may also disclose information when required by law, subpoena, court order, governmental request, or other lawful process.

Nothing in this section authorizes disclosure of tax return information when separate consent or other authorization is required by law.

6. IRS and State Tax Representation

When a client authorizes BridgeOne to communicate with the IRS or another taxing authority, information may be exchanged with that agency to the extent necessary and authorized for the matter involved.

IRS representation or access to taxpayer information may require documents such as Form 2848, Form 8821, third-party authorization, or another appropriate authorization.

An IRS authorization determines what taxpayer information may be disclosed and what actions a representative may take.

7. Website Forms and Email

Information submitted through our website contact forms is used to respond to inquiries and communicate regarding requested services.

Because ordinary email and website inquiry forms may not be appropriate for transmitting highly sensitive financial information, clients should use any secure document-transfer or client-portal method provided by BridgeOne when submitting tax records, Social Security numbers, banking information, or similar confidential documents.

Please do not send sensitive tax or financial documents through an ordinary website contact form unless specifically instructed to do so.

8. Cookies and Website Analytics

Our website may use cookies, analytics tools, and similar technologies to operate the website, understand visitor activity, improve functionality, and evaluate website performance.

Third-party website hosting, analytics, security, or technology providers may process limited technical information in connection with these services.

You may control or disable certain cookies through your browser settings, although doing so may affect website functionality.

9. Newsletter and Marketing Communications

Visitors may voluntarily subscribe to receive tax tips, deadline reminders, financial information, firm news, or other general educational communications.

Subscription to marketing or newsletter communications is not required to receive tax preparation or accounting services.

You may unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link provided in an email or by contacting BridgeOne.

BridgeOne will not use protected tax return information to market unrelated non-tax services unless such use is permitted under applicable law and any required consent has been obtained. IRS guidance distinguishes permitted client-list uses from solicitation of non-tax-return-preparation services.

10. Payment Information

Payments may be processed by third-party payment processors or financial institutions.

BridgeOne does not intend to store complete payment card numbers or card security codes on its website servers.

Payment processors handle payment information according to their own privacy, security, and contractual requirements.

BridgeOne may retain transaction records necessary for accounting, tax, legal, client-service, and business recordkeeping purposes.

11. Data Retention

We retain client and personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to:

  • Provide professional services

  • Satisfy tax-preparer and professional recordkeeping requirements

  • Maintain business and accounting records

  • Respond to tax examinations, notices, claims, or disputes

  • Meet legal or regulatory obligations

  • Protect BridgeOne's legitimate business interests

Retention periods may vary depending on the type of record and applicable requirements.

When information is no longer required, we may securely delete, destroy, anonymize, or otherwise dispose of it in accordance with applicable procedures.

12. Your Privacy Choices

Depending on applicable law and the nature of the information, you may contact us to request that we:

  • Update or correct your contact information

  • Provide information about certain personal information we maintain

  • Correct inaccurate information

  • Delete certain information when legally permissible

  • Stop sending promotional communications

Certain tax, accounting, legal, or regulatory records cannot be deleted merely upon request if BridgeOne is required or reasonably permitted to retain them.

We may take reasonable steps to verify your identity before processing a privacy-related request.

13. Third-Party Websites

Our website may contain links to third-party websites or services.

BridgeOne does not control those third parties and is not responsible for their independent privacy, security, content, or data-handling practices.

You should review the privacy policies of third-party websites before providing them with personal information.

14. Children’s Privacy

BridgeOne's website and professional services are not directed primarily to children under 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information online directly from children under 13 through the website for marketing purposes.

Information concerning a dependent or minor that is legitimately required for a client's tax return or other professional service may be collected from the client and handled as confidential client information.

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services, technology, legal requirements, or privacy practices.

When material changes are made, we will post the revised Privacy Policy on this page and update the Effective Date above.
